not sure about the whole deal of swopping Alonso for Barry indirectly, since Alonso should be a better passer etc but he seems too costly for that price. unless Rafa is being pressured so much at playing so little English players on his team and so buying one

agree with putting Carson into Barry's deal. Aston Villa would have taken it up if it was offered 1-2 months earlier, but RB kept valuing him at a high price. Selling him at 4M seems a little low, considering his loan at Aston Villa was apparently for 2M, but then again, considering him being a flop on the national team and his loss of form then, who knows. everyone knows RB needs to sell before he can buy, so...

keane at 20M seems a little too much, although he can be placed behind Torres and a little wide, and in front of Gerard, also as a lone man upfront when Torres isn't playing. but  I thought RB might need some more width and looking players like Silva,, though he wouldn't be cheap either. afterall, all the talk about Keane might be a smokescreen

its always common to see newly promoted clubs buying in loads of players to get ready for the EPL. Sunderland spent around £30 in the 1st half of last season and spent around £40 in total 07/08. like what Arthur mentioned, the money is really needed, but how you spend it is another thing. The TV rights (including overseas rights) for EPL is like £45 million per club a year from 2007 to 2010 currently, so going back down means you have to spend alot of time rebuilding and restructuring.
having survived the drop, Keane will have to find a way to move further up the table. I can't say his transfers are bad, since those at the bottom end of the table doesn't really have the luxury of choosing the too good players , but staying up in the league is still the priority.

Robinson completes switch to Blackburn

Paul Ince has made Paul Robinson his first signing as Blackburn boss, paying Tottenham £3.5million for the Tottenham goalkeeper.

Long-serving keeper Brad Friedel looks set to complete his £2million move to Aston Villa after Rovers gave permission for the midlands club to speak to the American and Ince has wasted no time in securing an experienced replacement after agreeing a five-year deal with Robinson.
